Soil Erosion under Future Climate Change Scenarios in a Semi-Arid Region

چکیده

The Mediterranean Region is presumed to be one of the locations where climate change will have most effect. This impacts natural resources and increases extent severity disasters, in general, soil water erosion particular. focus this research was assess how might affect rate a watershed High Atlas Morocco. For purpose, high-resolution precipitation temperature data (12.5 × 12.5 km) were collected from EURO-CORDEX regional model (RCM) simulations for baseline period, 1976–2005, future periods, 2030–2060 2061–2090. In addition, three maps created slopes, land cover, geology, while observed process catchment determined following field observations. potential (EPM) then used variations on rate. Until end 21st century, results showed decrease annual −32% −46% under RCP 4.5 periods 2061–2090, respectively, −28% −56% 8.5 same large increase +2.8 °C +4.1 scenario, +3.1 +5.2 scenario respectively. aforementioned changes are anticipated significantly rate, by +97.11 m3/km2/year 2060, +76.06 2090, scenario. predicts rise +124.64 period 2030–2060, but drop −123.82 2060–2090.

Climate change scenarios generated by using GCM outputs and statistical downscaling in an arid region

Two statistical downscaling models, the non-homogeneous hidden Markov model (NHMM) and the Statistical Down–Scaling Model (SDSM) were used to generate future scenarios of both mean and extremes in the Tarim River basin, which were based on nine combined scenarios including three general circulation models (GCMs) (CSIRO30, ECHAM5,and GFDL21) predictor sets and three special report on emission sce...

Erosion Modelling in a Mediterranean Subcatchment under Climate Change Scenarios Using Pan-european Soil Erosion Risk Assessment (pesera)

The Mediterranean region is particularly prone to erosion. This is because it is subject to long dry periods followed by heavy bursts of erosive rainfall, falling on steep slopes with fragile soils, resulting in considerable amounts of erosion. In parts of the Mediterranean region, erosion has reached a stage of irreversibility and in some places erosion has practically ceased because there is ...

Modeling Current and Future Potential Distributions of Caspian Pond Turtle (Mauremys caspica) under Climate Change Scenarios

Although turtles are the most threatened taxonomic group within the reptile class, we have a very limited understanding of how turtles respond to climate change. Here, we evaluated the effects of climate changes on the geographical distribution of Caspian pond turtle (Mauremys caspica). We used an ensemble approach by combining six species distribution models including artificial neural network...

Climate change, flooding in arid environments, and erosion rates

Although regional climates throughout much of the world appear to have become more arid in late Cenozoic time, sedimentation rates, and therefore presumably erosion rates, have increased. For sustained erosion of elevated terrain, at least where glaciers are not the major erosive agent, rivers must incise. Therefore bed-load transport by rivers should be a rate-limiting process in erosion. Theo...
